Exercising When You Don’t Feel Like It – CHEK INSTITUTE

You’ve had days when you’ve wanted to work out, but just didn’t feel like it. Don’t worry… I have those days too!

Maybe, you’ve been busy completing a project or coaching a lot of clients lately and you haven’t been to the gym in a couple of days. When you’re in that mood, it’s easy to talk yourself out of using movement as medicine.

This video shows you how I handle that problem.

When you walk into your gym, realize that the most important part of any habit is arriving there. Once you’re in your gym, instead of thinking about what you really have to do, focus on what makes you feel good. If you’re not sure, just start playing.

You may get inspired by sitting on that rowing machine and start to go harder and faster. That may work for you for three minutes or 20 minutes.

Maybe, you’ll consider something else, like doing pushups, lifting kettlebells or working with a Swiss ball. The key thing here is not to do anything with more effort or speed than what makes you feel good.

Take these times when you don’t feel like doing too much by spending some time enjoying the friendly relationship with your body.

If the best thing you can do is lay on the floor, wait until the urge rises naturally to do something more. Listen to what your body tells you, and you’ll never go wrong.

Love and chi,

Paul
