Answers to Your Questions Regarding the CHEK Academy

Ever since we started the CHECK Academy’s application period, we’ve received a number of questions that I want to answer as thoroughly as possible.
I’ve personally read each question and concern and have put together a list of the most common ones.
I think what I’ve written should address those questions and concerns, , but if you have additional questions after reading this article, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team.
Before I get started, here’s a quick reminder – we are accepting applications until October 31st, or until all of the spots are filled. So if you’d like to join, I advise you to apply as soon as possible.

Questions:
1. What kind of support system is available to CHEK Academy students?
Answer: We offer monthly group mentorship calls for each year of the Academy. These calls are devoted to covering key points from the month’s learning objectives and answering students’ questions. Group mentorship calls are led by CHEK faculty members or CHEK Institute CEO Gavin Jennings, depending on the topic.
We also run a private, dedicated CHEK Academy Facebook group for CHEK Academy members to discuss course materials, network with each other, refer clients, etc.
Once an Academy member has completed their first ATP (HLC1), they can join in monthly CHEK Professional Q&A calls. These calls are hosted by CHEK faculty members—I, myself, host at least two of these calls each year. The calls are set aside purely for CHEK Professionals to ask questions about clients, their businesses, course material, etc.
Additionally, after our Academy students complete their first ATP, they can join in monthly professional development webinars. These webinars are often created by faculty on a very specific topic, including coaching athletes, motivating client change, injury rehabilitation (for particular injuries), back pain, etc. They offer 90 minutes of targeted education. I usually host one such webinar each year; we often invite guest hosts from outside of the Academy as well.
2. What’s the plan for in-person courses? Will they be held online due to COVID-19?
Answer: We are adjusting our courses in several ways to meet the challenges of COVID-19.
HLC1 is already offered as an online course; this is an option for all Year 1 students.
HLC2 is now being offered as a virtual course, conducted live and online.
Regarding our IMS courses, we are in the process of determining the best way to change them to meet the demands of a COVID-19 world while still maintaining our educational standards. These courses typically require hands-on training.
Here is our current plan. In 2020, the first three days of our IMS courses will be devoted to theoretical material. All of this will be taught virtually, live and online. Students can attend the theoretical component in person if they so choose. If not, they can attend online. Of course virtual students will be able to ask questions during the session.
However, practical application sessions will be held for two days following the theoretical sessions, and students will have to attend those practical application sessions in person to pass the class. We will set up many practical application locations (run by CHEK Faculty members and high-level CHEK Professionals) around the world to make travel easy.
We feel this is the best way to minimize the amount of personal contact for those concerned about COVID-19 while still maintaining a high-level educational experience.
3. Do I have to travel frequently to be a part of the Academy and how will that work with COVID-19?
Answer: No, you do not have to travel frequently. Most of our course materials are online. Year 1 students will only have to travel once—if they choose HLC1 Online—to participate in IMS Level 1.
Year 2 students will likely have a choice between a live HLC2 course and a virtual version. Should they choose the virtual course, they will only have to travel once for IMS2.
Year 3 students will only have to travel once for IMS3.

4. What kind of money can I expect to make, and will there be support in building my business afterward?
Answer: CHEK Professionals make an income ranging from $50 to $800 per hour depending on their level of education and experience. Students who have completed Year 1 can make significantly more than your average trainer and it’s not uncommon for students to comfortably charge $75 per hour for their services by the end of the year.
There is business support. In addition to monthly mentorship calls, there is a business component to each year’s curriculum. Year 1 students learn the CHEK 1234 Business Model, which teaches the fundamentals of setting up your own practice. Year 2 students learn more about sales, marketing, and packaging their services. They also receive a dedicated online workshop on Presenter & Video Media Training for the CHEK Professional. Year 3 students have a special workshop on the topic of online/remote coaching, as well as an additional workshop focused on building marketing campaigns and leveraging social media for marketing.
You will also have the support of more advanced students in the Facebook groups and monthly Q&A calls with CHEK faculty. I host these calls twice each year.
5. Can I start working with clients prior to the completion of years 1, 2, and 3?
Answer: We urge students to complete and become comfortable living the teachings and principles of HLC1 before they begin working with clients. Once they have those principles down, yes, they can begin working with clients.
6. What kind of professional opportunities does this open up for me? Can I get a job with CHEK Academy licenses and certifications?
Answer: There is enormous opportunity for CHEK Professionals to specialize and work with clients of all kinds. We have students who work exclusively with professional athletes, students who work in corporate wellness, students who combine their training as chefs with CHEK teachings to help clients with gut challenges, students who work with chronic metabolic disorders such as diabetes, etc. They work in all sorts of business settings, too—as part of professional sports teams, in clinics, out of gyms, and in their own practices.
CHEK training is massively flexible. Where you go with it depends on your dreams, the life you want to create, and the clients with whom you want to work. Whatever your choice, my holistic model of health and performance will give you a significant edge that your competitors just don’t have.
7. How do I know that CHEK Academy is right for me?
Answer: There aren’t previous training or prerequisites needed to go through the training. Anyone can become a CHEK-Trained Practitioner through the Academy. CHEK Practitioners showcase all types of backgrounds; 40% of CHEK students arrive with no prior health-related experience. The only thing you need to succeed at the CHEK Academy is a willingness to learn and to help others.
8. Do I need a health/medical background?
Answer: We have CHEK-Trained Practitioners all around the world—from all walks of life, from bartender, to surgeon, to truck driver—as the Academy has been designed to transform ANYBODY into a true practitioner of the teachings. Over 40% of our students have no prior health or fitness training, and they go on to achieve very successful career changes. The only thing you need is the desire to learn and an open mind.
9. I’m worried about the price of the program. What if I cannot afford to pay the Academy’s tuition?
Answer: At approximately $400 per month, the CHEK Academy is absolutely the most affordable way to go through the CHEK materials. So, if you intend to truly understand our integrated system, there’s no better way than the Academy.
A practitioner that’s just started coaching will start at around $50 to $75 per hour, which means that they can make the amount to pay for their tuition fee in less than one day of work. We also have practitioners making $200, $300, or even $400 per hour, in which case, they earn back their money in an hour or two. In short, if you are serious about your intention to coach, you can pay for your tuition in less than one day of coaching!
If you’re worried about all of this, then know that we include business training within the Academy’s curriculum, helping you set up, determine your rates, and ultimately run a successful coaching business.
10. What is this scholarship I’ve been hearing about?
Answer: For the 2020/2021 year, we are giving away one scholarship for each of the Academy’s three years (i.e., three scholarships total). Each scholarship will pay for 50% of the student’s tuition. The scholarship’s monetary total will be determined after the actual price of the tuition is calculated; this depends upon the student’s starting year, the number of years in which the student is enrolled, and removing costs for courses and books that the student has already covered. The maximum value of the scholarship is US$7,200.
11. How will scholarship winners be determined?
Answer: One scholarship recipient for each of the Academy’s three years will be drawn at random from a pool of both new and current students. (Current Year 1 students rolling over into Year 2 will be eligible for the Year 2 scholarship.) Applicants from all regions of the world are eligible for the scholarships. Students must apply and complete the interview process. The three winners will be announced on November 5, 2020.
You can apply by simply completing your CHEK Academy application by October 31, 2020. All applicants and current students will automatically be entered into the scholarship drawing.
