Why Do You Exercise?
by Paul Chek
The real theme behind the title of this video is the importance of having a dream or clear vision about your exercise goals. Without it, you really don’t know how much exercise is enough (too much or not enough), or you don’t know what types to do.
Mimicking what other people are doing may not be ideal for achieving your dream or chief objective for exercise.
In my video, I’ll share a model that helps you better understand why maintaining a balance is so important for your health and some of the key components that relate to the importance of having a dream related to the design of your exercise program and your overall well being.
When you begin a workout or fitness program, ideally, you’ll want to be in an excitable state. However, if you’re in a state of burnout, starting any kind of physical activity could lead to problems, which are pretty common.
The challenge is maintaining a balanced state between working out and recovery based on the design of your exercise program. For example, if you work out at a given intensity, but your recovery time is too short, you won’t have the capacity to complete your next set within a prescribed window.
So, if you’re trying to do 8-12 reps, and you go too fast between exercises, you may not even get to 8. Technically, this may mean you’re draining your body more than training it.
